Academy of Indore Marathoners (AIM) is a nonprofit organization that was formed to conduct Marathon in Indore every year from time to time to all category of people i.e. Full time, part time, Dream Runners, Veterans, or disability to help increase grassroots participation for a safe, enjoyable and learning experience.
Today 3rd Feb 2019 was yet another day when AIM organized Indore Marathon 2019. There were 3 categories – Half Marathon 21KM, 10KM and Heritage Walk of 5KM. I wanted to run for 10KM run and this also time I forced my parents as well to participate in the 5KM Heritage walk. So on 31st Jan 2019, I registered for all 3 of us.
Day started for me at 5:45AM. I reached Nehru Stadium the starting point around 6:20 AM. Heritage walk timing was 8:30 AM. 10KM run flag-off happened on time and slowly and steadily I kept jogging. I completed my 10KM running in 1 Hr 31 Min although I think that it was bit slow. Given the fact that I never prepped for it and could complete the marathon without taking any break itself was an achievement for me. :-). Later on Papa Mummi also completed the 5KM run quite comfortably. Start of the Sunday was awesome and we all thoroughly enjoyed participating in the event. Next time I wish that I could raise my bar either through participating in 21KM or within 10KM itself would try to attain better timing.
Overall enjoyed participating in the event with my parents and looking forward to participate again next year as well.
