“Change is the only Constant” – fact of life.
I recently re-read the book “Who moved my cheese ?”. This book nicely explain about how to tackle with change through a small story. A story about two little man Hem and Hay and two little mice scurry and sniffy.
The story is about how two mice and two little man dealt with the change that happened suddenly one fine day in their life (disappearance of cheese). Mice Sniffy and Scurry were quick to adapt to this change but two little men were extremely upset about this change. Slowly, later Haw regained the courage and accepts the change and starts dealing with this change positively. He takes little small steps to regain his courage and positive attitude towards the change.
Some of the very important learnings straight from the book.
Change Happens – They Keep Moving Cheese
Anticipate change – Get Ready For The Cheese To Move
Monitor Change – Smell The Cheese Very Often So You Know When It Is Getting Old
Adapt To Change Quickly – The Quicker You Let Go Old Cheese, The Sooner You Can Enjoy New Cheese

Enjoy Change – Savor The Adventure And Enjoy The Taste Of New Cheese
Important thing to dwell upon is are we changing just for the sake of showcasing the we are changing ?
If we taken an example of the IT Industry, things are changing so rapidly that if you are not going to change and continuously innovate you will become obsolete soon. But, many Organizations claim that they are adapting change fast but, if looked deeper it is just the copying what other organization is doing and not an organic change. This situation might become very catastrophic to the organization if the change is not thought out well and how the change fits with the offerings of the organizations.
“Digital Transformation” is the buzz word that you are hearing everywhere these days across IT companies. Now many companies are taking steps thoughtfully towards it. Many are just getting onto this band wagon without doing thorough analysis of what they want to offer to customers in the name of “Digital Transformation” and what value is it adding to the the customer experience ?
Do you agree ? Are you also observing this “Digital Transformation” rat race ?
In the end, I would say that change is inevitable but changing just because others are changing might take you faster towards bigger disaster.
